Born in Kerala, 1963, Bose Krishnamachari completed his BFA from the J. J. School of Art, before doing a Masters from Goldsmiths College, University of London. He has mounted a number of solo shows, the most prominent of these being Amuseum [1992], Objects of Attention [1995], Dandy [1996], De Curating-India Contemporary Artists [2003], Exist [2005] Ghost/ Transmemoir [2006], at Gallery ArtsIndia, New York, and LaVA [Laboratory of Visual Arts, a traveling installation project], Bombay, Bangalore, Kolkata, Cochin, Baroda and New Delhi [2006/07]

Bose has also participated in numerous group shows including Persistence of Memory[1997], NGMA’s 50 Years of Indian Art [1999], Mutations – ‘Rumor City’ (curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist) in Tokyo [2001], Vanitas Vanitatum (curated by Peter Nagy) [2004], Paths of Progression [2005], and Ghost/ Transmemoir at Lille3000 [France-2006], Masters- 2007 Dubai, Art Amsterdam -2007, Peabody Essex Museum -2007 U.S.A., “India Art Now: Contemporary Indian Art Between Continuity And Transformation” -2007-Milan ,curated by Daniela Palazzoli among several others.

Having arrived in Bombay, in 1986, with only a prospectus of J.J School of Arts, Bose feels strongly about supporting the younger generation of artists, to make inroads in the contemporary art world. By curating and conceptualizing exhibitions [like Bombay X 1’7, Bombay Boys, KAAM, the much acclaimed Double-Enders, a show comprising works by a host of artists from Kerala, MaaRKERS , “Soft Spoken” and “SPY-07”] and creating a platform for younger, lesser known talent, Bose has introduced many young artists to the urban art circles and helped to give them visibility in the larger cities.
Bose Krishnamachari lives and works in Mumbai.
